This body of work emerged from a seven-week residency in Maroon Town, Cockpit Country, Jamaica – a landscape whose sounds, smells, textures and surreal light exist in conversation with something that has surveilled this space for aeons. The Maroons, who claimed and held this terrain through extraordinary acts of resistance and metamorphosis, understood the forest as both refuge and intelligence. That knowledge lives here still.

The cacoon vine and its seed move through these works as recurring presences – the vine that never grows straight, that meanders through the canopy without disturbing space; the seed, resilient and encoded. Each lightbox is a threshold: an encrypted space where ancestral data persists, held within layers of forest, light, and time.
